Janine Duns graduated in 1983 from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia. Over the past 25 years, she has combined time in her studio with intervals of travel and study. Janine’s art has been in numerous shows and her works are in many private and corporate collections throughout Canada. Janine has focused her artwork on manmade structures and natural forms found both in urban and rural landscapes. She is intrigued by her perception of the ephemeral quality of these forms. In both, she sees changes as she passes by them and her art attempts to capture this.
From a technical perspective, she has chosen to take a close look at her subjects forcing the viewer to focus on the small parts that create the whole. People tend to look at the big picture, but miss the beauty of the intricate details.
My inspiration for my art comes from my love of travel and hiking. I look at the details in nature and in architecture; it’s about observation and I have chosen to take a closer look at the lines in human made forms and the natural forms in nature. My personal fascination lies in the force and movement of line and how they interact with each other.
